Based upon reports such as this http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297823,00.html where (for example) he denied that there are gay people in Iran, I think that his speech at Columbia caused US prestige in the world to rise a bit relative to Ahmadinejad's prestige. In my opinion, those sort of statements make him appear out of touch.
