Two things, actually ...

Though I do realize that the Holiday Season is traditionally a slow time around here, as well as elsewhere, I can't help but to wonder ...

  • Where are folks like Securemann, Theresa, Jo, etc.? I can't help but to think my personal problems have lead to their disappearance.
  • Has the absent annual planning, producing, and picking of brains revolving around the Great Mohican Gatherings contributed a great deal to this?

The latter is to be expected, but I hope that the first is a non-reason [though I know better! ] Yeah, I miss Lainey here, too ... and yes, this place - or rather our devotion to it - did factor into the equation of a separation ... but, hey, it ain't your fault!!! Really, it isn't. Nobody's fault but the two of ours'. [Is that English?]

Anyway ...

Probably old news, but through Amazon.com.uk, one can purchase the LOTM THEATRICAL release on DVD. Did you know that? And, many of the newer DVD players can play those as well as those designed for Region 1.

And, thanks, Steph ... you know what for!

Happy New Year to you all folks ...

Jo Posted - January 13 2005 : 12:04:29 PM
Well, Well, Doc M is still around? On a weekend pass? Alpo does no good; the horse is still upset at being left high and dry, with pelts on none the less at Cameron's without so much as a by your leave from the boys.

Will we be making lanyards with the whips at the Fling?

Hello to Theresa and all!
Later,
Jo
richfed Posted - January 13 2005 : 05:24:01 AM
Ah, so very good to see you again Jo ... and Theresa ... and etc. I'm with you, Kate, on the toast!

Occupational therapy, huh????? I CAN DO THAT, DOC M.!!! I'm just GREAT at making baskets!! Uh uh, Doc... I said I can MAKE baskets, not I AM a basket case!! Of course, after a couple o' swigs outen yer squeezin's jar, I FEEL a little like a basket case!

HOWSEVER, a good OT NEVER refuses to try the treatment what she gives her clients... Now, if you'd like to play mother, I'll take a little dram... AWW, not THAT little...

Okay, a toast! To all those sweet folks what have been MIA, and who are slowly crawlin' back along the trail to home!!! Chee-uhs!

Doc M Posted - January 12 2005 : 10:26:32 AM
Am I, the fabulous, wise, all-seeing and all-knowing Doc M under
"etc" in your list of skeerce folk???!!!!! You'll pay for that
little remark, Bub! *snort! snort!*

Jo, I'm so sorry to hear about your horse problem. Try waving a can
of Alpo at him meaningfully. It never did squat to make mine behave,
but it always made me feel better.

Theresa, Kate, Clan McWilliam -- good to see you all! Hope you'll all
be at the Spring Fling at The Mohicanland Clinic for the Terminally
Weird ... plenty of squeezins of Bumppo's Best will be on hand, and
if you're all really really good I'll open up the Occupational
Therapy room and we can make clay ashtrays and lanyards!! WooHOO!!

Kissys!

Rich,
I'm here; just been swamped out on the north 40 with the horse; stubborn old guy. Thinks he's a mule. (Maybe this belongs on the farm/barnyard thread??) Great to read all of the posts. Hope everyone's year started out well and continues that way.

Ahhhh… Many Flags! Yes, Rabbie Burns Day is indeed a reason to celebrate! While he could rag the political figures of the community and reduce them to the pitiful pieces of human endeavour that they undoubtedly were (ie. ‘The De’il’s Awa Wi The Excise Man’, or ‘Holy Willie’s Prayer’), he could sing like a lintie of the delights of the women (ie ‘My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose’) to – the wrath of a woman directed at her man (Tam O’ Shanter)! Ahhhh yesss… THERE was a MAN!!

In fact, you unco remind me o’ the lad… *sigh*… wi’ yer incredible gift o’ story-tellin’… Now, I recognise that yer more a man o’ the chronicles, but I declare that that acquaintance o’ yours, one Ossian Gunn, were quite a man for’ the rhymin’… Aye… *sigh*… it were a sad day when ye’ cut short that piece o’ story-tellin’ juist when a’ was getting’ intae it. But – there ye go… when yer hairt’s no in it ony mair…

Aye, Rabbie Burns Day, wi’ the skirlin’ o’ the pipes, the swish o’ the tartan, the Address tae the Ladies – and the stab o’ the dirk into yon cantie piece o’ haggis (no tae mention a wee dram o’ the ‘nippy sweetie’!), I dinna wunner ye hiv started an Annual Burns Supper!!! But… the 22nd?? Now, for a sad, personal reason, I’m always reminded that the 25th is Burns Day. So… I’m thinking you’re waiting for the weekend so that you can imbibe in a little more of the ‘amber liquid’ than is good to quaff the night afore a school day???

OH THAT I COULD JOIN YE TOO!!!! I don’t much care for haggis, I REALLY don’t like the taste of whisky and… I never eat porridge if I can help it! I know… poor sort of Scot *I* am!!! Still – I’D JOIN YE JUST FOR THE GREAT COMPANY I’D BE KEEPIN’ IN!!! I’m thinking I’d be having a great time with all you folks! Still… I’ll be thinking o’ ye. Yes indeed;

“Then let us pray that come it may,
(As come it will for a' that,)
That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree, an' a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That Man to Man, the world o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that.”

SLAINTE!! ENJOY YOUR EVENING!!!! And - thank you for wishing me there with you folks!

Aye, Rich and all....and the MacWilliam clan is still around. Just been very busy. We check in at times, but have not had the penchance to write any tales.....haven't even finished the Blue Light story. Just sort of lost interest in it. But, cousin Malcolm and I are still alive and well. By the way....all and esp. KATE.....Robert Burns is coming up soon and we will have our very first and hopefully continual annual Burns Supper on Jan. 22. Sure wish you, Kate, and others could be here for the festivities.....A man's a man for a' that!! Pax Aye! Many Flags

Tsk, tsk, R.! ANOTHER post that you seemed to have missed!

As you so rightly point out, some of the 'regulars' seem to be away on a sabatical. BUT HAVING SAID THAT, I was ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED to see an 'oldie' (if you'll pardon the expression, 'She'!) put in an appearance a couple of days ago - our own, inimitable, much loved 'She Who Tracks La Longue Carabine'!!! THAT was such a pleasant surprise and I'm hoping that that was the first of many visits 'She' will be paying!!

Lose one, gain one, R...

I spoke to Theresa a few days ago. She is fine, just busy, but promises to get back online soon.

Now you need to get the 1932 LOTM version starring Harry Carey, Sr. as Hawkeye. It's a 12 part serial, all action. The girls are only there to have someone to be captured by the bad guys. The plot? Well, just sit back and enjoy the action. Lots of canoe chases, battles, bad guys, good guys. Sort of an 18th century western.

And then there is the 1922 version. A reviewer says: "For cultists only (if there are Last of the Mohicans cultists), a film to seek out is the even earlier 1922 version, filmed in Germany with Bela Lugosi as the treacherous Indian Leader, Magua."

And what does he mean "if there are Last of the Mohicans cultists"? Of course there are!!! Just ask Michael Williams.

Yeah... I really miss having both Securemann and Theresa around. It is my hope that they will soon return and rejoin in the fun and merriment.

Speaking of purchasing things, I just visited Amazon (yes, I did portal through Mohicanpress to get there! Every little bit helps, right Rich?) yesterday and ordered a couple of videos and a CD. I had been wanting to purchase my second, backup copy of the VHS of LOTM for quite some time, so I finally did it. Cost $10.00. I bundled it with the 1936 Randolph Scott version, which I had been really wanting to get. I also bought the Original Soundtrack on CD, because all I had was the cassette tape. And now... you tempt me with the threatical release on DVD, even though I sti-i-i-l-l haven't bought my DVD player! A-a-a-a-a-rgh!
