Hey everyone! I was looking through my TV guide today when I saw that LOTM will be airing on FX (not sure what that channel is for you, but for me the channel number is 42)...at 9:00 AM on November 20th which is a Saturday. I was just so excited. I know most of us here already have the movie, but theres just something cool about it being on TV, ya know what I mean? One things for sure, I'm getting up early to watch it! Just thought I'd let ya all know! :)

Prepare yourself! For the sake of accomodating commercials, they have cut it to pieces. There are some parts missing and then they sort of tacked the final DVD scene onto the end. You can actually see the difference in the quality of the film where it is edited in. It's a bit disconcerting. It will make you run... not walk... back to your video tape!

So, WW...is it even worth watching?? Let me know. :) And hey, even if I watch the entire thing on TV and have to run and watch my DVD version as well, I guess I wouldn't mind watching LOTM twice in one day! ;)

Since half of the book was left out of the movie, then after the tv editing and the commercials, I think that I will sleep late, and miss it this time around.

Yes, if you have the time go ahead. If you have only the DVD version, you will probably hear some lines that were cut out of the original VHS version... some of Hawkeye's sassiest lines. You might enjoy that.

I watched it. What a hack job!
They cut some from the elk hunt. They even cut out some of "The Kiss"!
Too hot for tv? Unbelievable.
They cut out Soldier 2 getting knocked down and kicked by Magua!
I always listen for his one word in the movie - "UGH!"
They totally messed up the music during the scenes when our hero's are
chasing after the girls and Duncan. It switches between "I will find
you" (Clannad) and military sounding music. It's so obvious.
You do see the extra battle scenes at the Fort and more dialog
between Magua and Montcalm.
They cut out Duncan's scream when he's getting burned.
There are more differences that I haven't mentioned.
After watching it, it helped me see that I still love the original
version better. Seeing it on the big screen last June is still the
best!

Yes, they really did cut everything out! They even cut the Uncas/Alice ending scene which I thought was terrible seeing as though its one of the best scenes of the movie. The music editing was terrible as well, you're right about that. WW, you were right, I ran back to my DVD!! lol

Half? I hardly saw anything in the book that was remotely close to the movie.
I'll be watching LOTM Nov 20th but only because I am such an Uncas and Nathaniel lover! One can never get tired of seeing their faces!

You may want to note that the original post in this thread was made in November of 2004. I don't know for certain, but I would rather doubt it will be shown on Nov. 20th of 2006.
